In addition to hospital work, I am active in the rescue and placement of homeless dogs and cats in the Animed’s adoption program. During my off time, I enjoy hiking with my 2 rescued American Staffordshire Terrier mixes. I am an advocate for animal rights, especially the bully breeds!

Dr. Martinez graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University. He then completed an internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialist in New Jersey and then followed that with several years in private practice in the New England area. In 2002, while recovering from what was his third open heart surgery for a congenital heart defect, he studied Perfusion Technology at Northeastern University and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. That was followed by a short stint at Chestnut Street Animal Hospital in Needham. He then founded Castlerock Pets (a privately owned and family run business entity) and purchased Animed Pet Hospital in June 2023.
Dr. Martinez was born in Boston, where he now lives, but considers Colorado, where he went to college and veterinary medical school his second home. All of his spare time is spent with his family enjoying the great wealth of riches that life has to offer. He also enjoys cycling, building Lego sets with his son, is a bit of a coffee connoisseur, and considers himself a foodie and stick hockey enthusiast. His professional interests include cardiology, emergency medicine and critical care.
